How to Become a Radiology Tech in Alabama
As of 2022 there are no licensing requirements to become a radiology tech in Alabama. However many candidates may still choose to register with the ARRT and to sit their certification exams. Registration and certification with the ARRT will speak to your level of knowledge for prospective employers and is nationally recognised.
To register with the ARRT you will need to:
- Associates Degree: Obtain an Associates Degree in Radiology at an accredited school.
- ARRT Exams: An associates degree is also a minimum requirement to apply to sit the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) exams. The ARRT exams are computer based and are administered at Pearson VUE testing centres throughout Alabama.
- Nuclear Medicine Techs: If you wish to specialise in nuclear medicine technology you will need to sit and pass the specialist exams set by the Nuclear Medicine Technology Certification Board (NMTCB).
