New York PTA Certification and Licensing Requirements
To become a licensed Physical Therapist Assistant (PTA) in New York, after graduating from an accredited program, applicants must contact the Office of the Professions – State Board for Physical Therapy. Successful completion of a two-year college program for PTAs is required, either at a New York State Registered Physical Therapist Assistant Program or a CAPTE/APTA Accredited Physical Therapist Assistant Program.
Additionally, passing the National Physical Therapist Assistant Examination is mandatory, with no state jurisprudence exam requirement.
