Connecticut, Connecticut State Community College – Naugatuck Valley has an enrollment of approximately 5,000 students and around 8,000 students in Norwalk

The PTA program is fully accredited by CAPTE until December 31, 2024, with a class size of 30 students. It is a full-time, two-year program leading to an Associate in Science degree. 

Admission is competitive, with top-scoring students securing enrollment. The program’s exceptional outcomes include a 97.9% ultimate NPTE pass rate (2020-2021), a 93.6% first-time pass rate, a 100% employment rate (2019-2020), and an 89% graduation rate (2020-2021). 

The campus does not offer on-campus accommodation.

The total tuition and fees for in-state students exceed $13,500.

PTA Certification Requirements in Connecticut

Once you have graduated from an accredited PTA school in Connecticut, you will need to obtain a license to work as a physical therapist assistant there. To obtain your license it is a requirement that you have successfully passed additional certification exams.

Connecticut does not have any requirement to undertake any local state-level jurisprudence exams. However, all candidates seeking initial licensure in the state must complete the National Physical Therapy Examinations (NPTE).

Update 2018: The Federation of State Boards of Physical Therapy (FSBPT) has recently launched the Physical Therapy Licensure Compact for PTs and PTAs.

The purpose of the compact is to essentially create an interstate license that will allow a physical therapist or physical therapist assistant to practice outside of the state in which they obtained their license.
